Types of Water | How they work and their effects | Boiled Water | Boiled water is 'dead' water. Although boiling removes free chlorine from tap water, it also 'destroys' oxygen and nutritional minerals in the water. Boiled water tastes flat and makes water acidic too. | | Bottled Water | The quality of bottled water is not always consistent and depends on the source. Good quality water must be in contact with oxygen in the air for continuous molecular movement. Bottled water does not have fresh activation and this destroys oxygen and mineral ions. | Bottled Water Dispenser | Most employees (and a small number of home users) get their drinking water from suppliers of 5-gallon bottled water. These suppliers also provide dispensers for as long as they order a minimum quantity of bottled water every week. Unbeknown to customers, these dispensers have no mechanism to control bacteria growth, thus making the drinking water susceptible to bacterial contamination.Besides this potential source of contamination, users also face storage space problems for the large bottles. Moreover, there is also the difficulty and potential hazards of having to lift and fit these bottles into place. Finally, users do not own the bottled water dispensers and the costs per litre can be very expensive in the long run. | Distilled Water | Distilled water is produced through the process of distillation where water to be processed is vaporized and then condensed. While the process removes impurities it also removes beneficial natural minerals. Water in its natural state always contains minerals. Because distilled water does not contain minerals, it is in an unnatural state that it automatically tries to correct. It does this by combining with any other substances it comes in contact with.As such distilled water can be considered 'aggressive". Distilled water will react with the bottle material (PVC, PET etc.) and absorb some of its components. Thus drinkers of distilled water also ingest a small proportion of the bottle material! Good quality water should be fresh, with dissolved minerals, nutrients and oxygen. Tests confirm that plants and fishes do not grow well with distilled water, as they need activated minerals and oxygen to grow. Distilled water is also acidic and tastes flat. Essential minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, etc. that are necessary for maintaining good health are also removed. | Reverse Osmosis Water | In the Reverse Osmosis Water System, water is pumped through a thin synthetic membrane with pores large enough for water molecules to pass through but too small for larger polluting molecules to pass. The water on the other side of the membrane is thus purified while the pollutants are trapped by the membrane. This process is not only tedious (it takes several hours to produce one gallon of water) but also wasteful as between 3-10 gallons of tap water are needed to produce 1 gallon of purified water (with the remainder drained away). Reverse Osmosis also removes big molecules minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, etc. that are necessary for maintaining good health. Reverse Osmosis Water is Acidic | Purified Water | The water to be purified is passed through layers of filters to remove the impurities and harmful substances. Activated carbon and resins are usually used to remove most of the dissolved minerals. After a short period of use, the filter elements tend to breed bacteria and fungi that proliferate and are carried in the water. Thus, there is a serious threat of bacterial and fungal growth in filter cartridges that are not replaced regularly. Water pH is not improved. In fact, water pH tends to get more acidic as the carbon filter wears off. | Alkaline Antioxidant Water | Alkaline Antioxidant Water (Alkaline Ionic Water) is produced by passing filtered tap water through a Water Ionizer. The Water Ionizer electrically splits the filtered tap water into Alkaline Antioxidant Water for drinking and Acidic Super Oxidant Water for beauty & medical uses. The minerals ions in the Alkaline Antioxidant Water are easily absorbed into body tissues, very beneficial for metabolic processes and strengthen bones. Alkaline Antioxidant Water clusters are smaller than other water sources. Alkaline Antioxidant Water thus hydrates cells much more efficiently than any other type of water. This water also contains a high level of dissolved oxygen. Japanese Doctors discovered that Alkaline Antioxidant Water has the amazing ability to mop up free radicals, which have been attributed to accelerated aging, cancer and other ailments. Because of these extraordinary benefits, water ionisers have been endorsed by the Ministry of Health & Welfare of Japan and Korea as a Health Enhancement Water System since 1960. Note of Caution: The quality of Water Ionizers varies greatly so please be careful to buy the right brand. The water cell must be made of Platinum-coated Titanium Electrodes. Beware of Water Ionizers using electrodes made of Stainless Steel, Aluminium or Iridium. These are low grade quality | MRET System | Molecular Resonance Effect Technology. The structure of the water is molecularly altered with special frequency that is anti-bacteria and anti-viral and energized for optimum cellular function. Water produced by this technology does not have alkaline pH, has no anti-oxidant properties and does not increase the level of dissolved oxygen. | DEMONSTRATION ON THE pH AND ANTI-OXIDANT PROPERTIES OF DIFFERENT DRINKING WATERS Our own test has produced the following pH and anti-oxidant results of the different types of drinking water, as shown in the table below. You are welcomed to bring sample of your drinking water to the AlkaLife Shop for testing. Note : For pH testing we use the colour change of either the methyl orange to determine the pH value. If the water is acidic (pH below 7) the color should be yellow (mildy acidic) to pink (very acidic); green if neutral (pH 7) and for alkaline (pH above 7) water the color change is blue (mildy alkaline) to purple (strong alkaline). The above picture ( row above ) shows the different pH color for different types of water. For the anti-oxidant test we use the iodine test or Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) meter test. Iodine being an oxidizing agent is yellow in color. If the water has anti-oxidant property it should “reduce” or change the iodine to iodide which is colorless. The above picture (row below) shows that only alkaline water has antioxidant property, hence the water is also called alkaline anti-oxidant water. Using an ORP meter, anti-oxidant water will give negative (-ve) readings implying that it contains large amount of negative ions (see table below). One is also able to test the anti-oxidant activity in pharmaceutical grade supplements which contains anti-oxidant (refer to section on FOOD), fresh orange or green tea using the iodine or ORP meter tests. Different Drink Types | pH Values | Anti Oxidant Values | Filtered Tap Water | 7.5 to 8.0, Slighty Alkaline | +ve , No antioxidant property | Mineral Water | 7.5 to 8.0, Slightly Alkaline | +ve , No antioxidant property | Distilled Water | 5.5 to 6.0, Acidic | +ve , No antioxidant property | Reverse Osmosis Water | 6.0 to 6.5, Acidic | +ve , No antioxidant property | Popular Cola | 2.5, Very Acidic | +ve , No antioxidant property | Popular Brand Beer | 4.7, Very Acidic | +ve , No antioxidant property | Diet Soft Drink | 3.2, Very Acidic | +ve , No antioxidant property | Alkaline Ionic Water | 10.0, Very Alkaline | -ve , Strong antioxidant property | Differences between Fresh and Bottled Alkaline Anti-Oxidant Water Freshly produced alkaline ionized water has 5 potent properties beneficial to our health but under storage condition or bottled, 2 of these properties are compromised with a lessened impact on health. Lower pH pH will drop slightly because of oxidation by air even through plastic containers. Vanishing Anti-Oxidants Anti-oxidant value measured as ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) is usually -250 to -280 with fresh alkaline water but it drops very fast and disappears by the end of the second day especially it the bottle is unsealed. |
